Lebanese, Syrian and Iraqi Arabic are published as three distinct editions rather than one Arabic book. A single Arabic book would have to be Modern Standard Arabic, which is the formal written language used in news broadcasts and school textbooks, and which no family uses at home. A child handed an MSA picture book meets words nobody in their house says, which is a strange way to be taught your own mother tongue.
